But the fashion house is not the first brand to make and sell knitted footwear. Nike offers sneakers made with its Flyknit technology that “fit like a sock, with the support and durability for sport,” while Adidas’ Primeknit shoes are also knitted footwear promising stylish comfort.

The Garavani Crochet sneakers are actually an experimental product from Valentino, with the techniques used in its production – macramé and crochet – having appeared in various pieces of its Collezione Milano SS21. Designed by Pier Paolo Piccioli, the footwear uses tubular fabric ribbons for its upper part, while its heel is made of trim rubber.

The sneakers come in four colourways – black, grey, yellow and orange, and each pair is the product of over 10 hours, 88 needles and 100 meters of wire. Also, because they are handcrafted, no two pair is really the same, making the Garavani Crochet sneakers a truly unique, one-of-a-kind footwear.
