West Midlands Safari Park has finally opened the doors of its long-awaited safari lodges to the public – the first of its kind in the UK- and it features direct views of the animals as they roam alongside the rooms.
Announcing the grand opening, West Midlands Safari Park – located in Bewdley, Worcestershire – said, “Our highly-anticipated Safari Lodges have now opened and we’re thrilled to give you a first look!”
Located right on the edge of the park’s elephant and cheetah zones, the lodges are set to feature incredible views of the animals.
With eight rooms that can sleep up to five guests, each suite has an open plan living room as well as outdoor seating areas and balconies – meaning you can enjoy your morning brew in the company of some of the park’s very special residents, including young male elephant Sutton, his mum Five, and his aunt Latabe.
A king-size bedroom in each of the rooms sits on the lower floor, with the upper floor sleeping up to three people. There’s also an option to add a cot if you’ve got a baby on board.
“Our Elephant Lodges sleep up to five guests and have open-plan living spaces with lounge, dining area and kitchenette. The spacious balcony with outdoor seating offers spectacular views to watch our elephants approach the pool in front of the lodges. Our Cheetah Lodges sleep up to six guests and feature large windows spanning one side of the building, offering panoramic views of the cheetahs in their new habitat,” explains the lodge further.
The luxury accommodation was due to open last year, but the launch has seen various setbacks because of the ever-persistent pandemic. After pushing the date back to February 2021, England’s third national lockdown meant the park had to postpone until April.
But with domestic holidays now back on the cards thanks in part to a change in restrictions earlier this month, hanging out with Sutton, Five and Latabe is finally a possibility.
A stay also includes breakfast and dinner, as well as access to the park and wristbands for rides at the theme park, with prices starting at £147 per night for kids, and £171 per night for adults.
West Midlands Safari Park said bookings for 2021 have “almost completely sold out,” but added that there is “still some availability for a winter break this December”, probably because the Red Panda cottages are scheduled to open this summer. 2022 breaks are also now available to book online.
