We’ve all heard about the lavish parties. Seen peeks inside from shows like “Entourage” and “The Girls Nextdoor”, but the chance to actually own the Playboy Mansion is now a reality. Hitting the LA real estate market for $200 million, plus the requirement that Hugh Hefner, remain your roommate, The Agency in Los Angeles has snagged this ultra-high dollar and ultra-high profile listing.
Described as the “crown jewel of L.A.’s Platinum Triangle”, the nearly 20,000 sq ft, private retreat is the ultimate in celebrity homes. Situated on five acres in Holmby Hills, just between Beverly Hills and Westwood, the Mansion boasts 29 rooms and every luxury amenity imaginable: sultry nights in “the Grotto”, a resort style swimming pool, landscaping to rival Versailles, wine cellar, tennis court, catering kitchen, separate game house, a private redwood forest, and even its own zoo license. In addition to the more than adequate number of bedrooms in the main house, the Mansion boasts a four-bedroom guesthouse which was also featured on E!’s reality shows.
Bought 45 years ago for just over $1 million by Playboy Enterprises, Inc., the Gothic-designed Tudor style home was built in 1927. Home base for the Playboy Empire for the past half-century, the home has proven to be a smart investment and is one of the highest priced private-homes in the United States today.
As the future of Playboy evolves, so does the future of the famous, or is it “infamous”, Mansion, but one thing will remain the same – Hugh. Hefner expects to be given a “life estate” at the mansion, allowing him to stay until his death.
