Upscale jeweler Samer Halimeh New York will offer diamonds to superyacht users and their guests, in a new program to market its products to the ultra-rich.
The retailer has partnered with luxury-yacht company SSH Maritime to launch “summer superyacht diamond boutiques” on four of its vessels — Chakra, Serenity, Grand Ocean and Omega. Millionaires and billionaires frequently charter one of these yachts for two to six weeks in the summer at an average cost of more than $500,000 per week, Samer Halimeh said Monday.
Under the program, starting this summer, superyacht charter clients will have the option of hosting a showcase of diamonds on their boats at no extra charge. Clients who decide to do so will receive a brochure containing photographs and details of Samer Halimeh’s diamonds and jewelry before they set sail, so they can choose exactly which pieces they want on their voyage. Hosts and guests will be able to wear the jewelry at private and public events while on the yacht and when moored, with the vessel’s staff providing security.
Once the cruise is over, clients and guests who want to purchase any of the pieces they wore or saw will be billed for their selections when they return home.
The retailer has previously built temporary “pop-up” shops in hotels, but this is its first foray into the nautical world.
The company only sells diamonds that come from South African mines and have received grading reports from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), it said. Its stones are cut and polished in New York, where the jeweler has its headquarters. It recently opened a boutique in London as well.
