Are you totally invested in Cartier timepieces? Then you would know that Harry Fane is the place to go for vintage and unique models from the jeweller. The London-based gallerist is the undisputed expert in everything vintage Cartier, and now, it is once again proving this with the release of exclusive pieces at the Dover Street Market London. Of course, when Harry Fane is involved, the collection is sure to be all about Cartier specials. However, two things make this particular one even more special: all the timepieces come from the ‘20s, and, they are all encrusted in diamonds and other precious gems.
The star of the show is the diamond and emerald timepiece that’s shaped rectangularly and dates back to 1925. It combines the aforementioned stones alongside black onyx for a dazzling bezel and house. Additionally, it is attached to a silk band with diamond-set Moghul-esque pavé shoulders, while the 18k gold plating laying underneath ever-so-slightly peaks out beneath the stones and towards the rear case.
Elsewhere, an equally special 1920s example makes the cut with its open, square-shaped case and rounded corners that is set with rose-cut diamonds. Both its openwork lugs and buckle are set with diamonds as well as its bezel. The dial is a traditional Cartier configuration, making this timepiece a rare and desirable classic. Again, it comes with a silk band but is made from 18k gold rather than plated.
Lastly, Fane and DSML present the oldest piece in the range: a 1919/1920 Cartier platinum and diamond “Tortue.” It’s a timepiece that shows the lengths Cartier went to so that it could stand out and make a difference in the horology world, as details such as the four rose-cut diamonds set between the case and the strap were an adventurous design concept 100 years ago.
Harry Fane’s latest selection of vintage Cartier timepieces retail for approximately $69,500 USD, $67,800 USD, and $49,650 USD respectively. If you want to get your hands on any of these rare beauties, head over to Dover Street Market London’s website or their physical store.
