Glamping at Amilla Maldives
Amilla Maldives Resorts and Residences recently launched the new Amilla Glamping experience, offering guests the chance to stay in beach bubble tents complete with a private chef, sauna, plunge pool and champagne.
Each of the three climate-controlled outdoor retreats is positioned among coconut trees, pandan and breadfruit trees, offering uninterrupted views of the star-filled sky by night. Each pod has its own bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a sauna, steam room and plunge pool.
Guests can further personalise their stay with options ranging from canapés with champagne and a private beach barbecue to guided sunrise yoga sessions and tailored massages. This island resort is a part of the Maldives’ UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, Baa Atoll, with both a culinary and wellness offering that’s rooted in sustainability.
Sailing from Soneva Fushi
Soneva launched its new sailing excursions to the Maldives’ unspoiled Goidhoo Island this April. Setting sail from Soneva Fushi, guests embark on a four-day, three-night journey aboard the Soneva in Aqua yacht that combines its signature barefoot luxury feel with a sense of adventure.
The 75ft yacht sleeps up to four adults and two children with additional facilities including an on-deck Jacuzzi and daybeds, a dining area, bar, lounge and library.
As well as a captain, the boat’s crew includes a chef, wellness therapist and Soneva Barefoot Butler, plus divemaster, surf instructor, photographer and astronomer on request. Goidhoo Island is 30 miles from Soneva Fushi, in the south of the Baa Atoll, and is an area that’s less frequented by divers and surfers but known for its vibrant marine life, corals, wreck-diving and surfing at Goidhoo Pass.
Skydiving with The Nautilus Maldives
Another announcement this month saw the launch of the pulse-raising skydiving experience at The Nautilus Maldives. The luxury hideaway is offering adventurous guests the chance to skydive alone or in tandem from heights of 12,000ft above the Baa Atoll.
Guests set out on a 20-minute yacht ride from the island to Dharavandhoo domestic airport where an expert skydiving team will greet and fully brief them. After being outfitted in the flight gear, they then take a 20-minute flight to reach the 12,000ft height before jumping out to experience one minute of free fall after which the parachute canopy is released. From here, guests take in the panorama of Baa Atoll before landing on The Nautilus island resort’s white-sand shores.
On-island surfing and underwater encounters at Cheval Blanc Randheli
The legendary island resort, Cheval Blanc Randheli, is offering an array of newly created experiences including the chance to surf on the island.
The island resort is now home to the Maldives’ first and only surf simulator, providing both beginner and advanced surfers with the opportunity to catch a wave, regardless of sea conditions. The Maison’s Ambassadeurs are also on-hand to provide coaching.
On top of this, the Maldivian retreat is also now hosting the new Make New Underwater Encounters experience allowing guests to snorkel with whale sharks. After a private seaplane flight to South Ari Atoll, participating guests are treated to a three-course lunch before going in search of the planet’s largest fish species.
