Babymigo Is One of the 50 Genius Companies in the World

At Babymigo, it is believed that 400 million mothers in Africa deserve access to inclusive support system to help make informed decisions during pregnancy and parenthood. This is a fundamental human right. The brand understands that, which is why they’re committed to being the most trusted ally in the pursuit of health and well-being.

Babymigo App Interface

Babymigo is an online community that connects mothers-to-be with information, medical experts, services and other parents. The platform is equipped with an SMS subscription service for pregnant women that informs them of prenatal appointments and their babies’ development.

The lack of access to affordable healthcare and trusted support network for expecting moms and parents is a large and growing problem, making the mission of Babymigo much more important. Their vision is to help empower 50 million parents to raise a healthy family by 2020 thereby reducing avoidable maternal and infant mortality by 45%.

Recently, the 50 most genius companies in 2018 were selected by a global network of editors and correspondent based on originality, influence, success and ambition and Babymigo was on the list. “It is humbling. We feel excited to be a part of the 50 genius companies in the world. The most important thing is about telling us to work harder and see how to live to the standard that has been set before us.” Babymigo co-founder, Adeloye Olanrewaju told Business Insider SSA in a phone interview.

“Every day, approximately 830 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth – 99% of them in developing countries such as Nigeria, where lack of education is as much a cause as poor health care. There are 10.4 million babies born every year in Nigeria, and every one of those mothers is hungry for the kind of information we provide,” Times quoted him as saying.

Babymigo hopes to be the biggest parenting platform supporting mums across Africa. Most importantly, to be that brand that is helping to reduce maternal and newborn mortality across Africa. They have a plan to expand to different countries and to scale the platform with a target to reach 20 million mums by 2020.

Babymigo is a data-driven company; they have realized and maintained where they get their highest and have some traffic coming from few countries in Sub- Saharan Africa which would help the brand form the decision on which way to go.

The struck-match genesis for Babymigo was “to help alleviate the problem of pregnancy and childbirth”, which kills “830 women every day, with 99% of them in developing countries such as Nigeria”, Aryn Baker writes for TIME.

Nonetheless, the resulting solution to the enormous problem was an SMS subscription service, which Olanrewaju created “for pregnant women, to inform them of prenatal appointments and their babies’ development”, Baker continues.

Babymigo’s app has been downloaded 30,000 times and its mobile-friendly website has 90,000 registered users —most from Nigeria, with the rest from Sub-Saharan Africa.
