Louis Vuitton recently unveiled the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Official Match Trophy Case, marking the Paris brand’s third participation in the world’s largest sporting event. This trophy case was designed to store the most decorated piece of silverware in football. The French luxury brand offered their services to produce the bespoke piece for the coveted trophy, along with teaming up with tournament sponsors Adidas to create a match ball ‘collection trunk.’
The LV custom-made work of art is clad in laser-engraved monogram titanium, the brand’s globally recognized print. It also has hints of natural cowhide leather and ruthenium lock and clasps. Interestingly, the chemical symbol for ruthenium is “Ru,” which is a nod to Russia, the tournament’s 2018 host country.
Handmade in Asnieres, France, the FIFA World Cup Trophy Case was first revealed on the pitch in Moscow at the Opening Match on June 14th, and would also be publicly displayed during the final match on July 15th when the trophy will be presented to the 21st victors of the quadrennial tournament.
In addition to the trunk, the Paris luxury house also recently launched the Louis Vuitton 2018 FIFA World Cup Official Licensed Product Collection. The collection offers a refined yet playful football-inspired style, including exclusive versions of Keepall and Apollo bags along with a selection of smaller leather pieces. A logo unique to Russia 2018 has also been created for the design with the initials ‘L.V’ used like a team’s crest.
On May 30th 2018, Louis Vuitton opened a temporary pop-up store in Moscow at the Crocus City Mall, the biggest luxury mall in Russia. The pop-up store will be open until July 31st.
