Louis Vuitton Harnesses the Colour of the Skies for its Gradient Blue Earbuds

Less than a month after it released its Black/Neon Green coloured Horizon wireless earphones, Louis Vuitton has announced a new colourway- the Horizon Gradient Blue. Referencing the colours of the sky, the latest Horizon earphones move from light blue at the base to a darker blue at the top.

The asymmetrical design also features two Monogram flowers, with a pointed flower appearing on the left and a round-shaped flower on the right. These touches are finished in mirror-polished steel, contrasting against the coloured acetate of the rest of the earphones.

The Horizon Gradient Blue comes with a stainless steel case that also holds back-up power. The case itself was inspired by Louis Vuitton’s Tambour Horizon Watch and features blue LV monograms around the top of the flip-up lid. Other features include optimized Bluetooth connectivity (the most-recent Bluetooth standards), an induction charging mode and two different audio experience options.

But, is the Louis Vuitton Horizon Gradient Blue any good?

When the first earbuds came out, the verdict was that it was not the best audio device to sink almost $1000 in. For starters, it did not have a noise-cancelling feature, something that almost all popular and widely-sought after earphones had.

Secondly, its audio for calls was rather subpar, and it was difficult for the person on the other end to hear you during calls. Lastly, its battery life was a little dismal, giving only three and a half hours of constant listening where AirPods gave five hours.

Louis Vuitton listened and went back to the proverbial drawing board with Master & Dynamic, the audio company that actually produces the earbuds. The Horizon Gradient Blue is in the same category as the other second-generation Horizon earphones.

What this means is that in addition to any extra features, you can be sure of up to 30 hours of listening time with the case charges; great battery life for the charging case which can go at least a week without needing to be charged; 10mm drivers that are designed to offer its “warm signature sound,” giving you a fantastic sound for lows, mids, and highs, and of course, all the beautiful trappings that make for a fantastic luxury product.

The Gradient Blue colourway is due to be released at Louis Vuitton stores on 15 January 2021.
