This Baby is the Ultimate Gift for You and Yours

Bugatti’s iconic racing car is back, but, move over adults: this exclusive reincarnated model is not for you. To commemorate Bugatti’s 100th anniversary, the French automobile designer has released the smallest member in its fleet – the Baby II.

Modelled after the popular Bugatti Baby built in 1926 for Roland, Ettore Bugatti’s youngest son, the new marque is a contemporary tribute to its founder’s masterpiece, the Bugatti Type 35 which is the marque the original Baby was birthed from and which has also been credited as the most successful racing car of all time.

Apart from being a limited edition like its predecessor – only 500 of its type will be made- the Bugatti Baby II varies greatly from the car it drew its inspiration from. It is a three-quarters-size replica of the Bugatti Type 35 so it can be driven by both adults and children (ok, so we lied: you can drive this car too, adults). It was designed with the aid of a precise digital scan of an original Type 35 and features removable lithium-ion battery packs, a limited slip differential and hydraulic regenerative braking.

Each car in this collection will come with two selectable power modes for both children and adult drivers – a 1kw ‘novice mode’ with a top speed limited to 20km/h, and a 4kw ‘expert mode’ with the top speed limited to 45km/h. For speed lovers, however, an optional ‘speed key’ upgrade is available which allows for power of up to 10kw and disengages the speed limiter.

But that is not all of its cool features. Remember this Baby is a limited edition, and to confer even more uniqueness on it, each car will be branded its own plaque displaying its unique chassis number. The colour of the exterior can be changed to the buyer’s preference and would carry a badge in commemoration of Bugatti’s 110th anniversary.

A unique gift for you and you children, the Baby, initially sold out when it was launched at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, can be yours due to order cancellations in the wake of the pandemic and its attendant financial implications.
