Gone are the days when grooming beyond a bath, deodorants and perfumes were reserved for only women. Men have become increasingly metrosexual, and they also deal with acne and other skin conditions, hair issues and other beauty challenges.
In a market that used to be dominated with products for women, men’s grooming and beauty products are beginning to take their place. In recent times, the focus has been on beard oils and other grooming products to grow and maintain a beard. However, there are additional beauty solutions for men that may be considered a little strange but can be quite useful once we get over traditional definitions of what is appropriate for the male gender.
Here are five grooming products that may appear to be rather unusual but are beneficial for men
Wigs.
Interestingly, before wigs came to be associated with females, men used to wear them. From ancient Egypt to 18th century Europe, wigs were the height of fashion for men.
Now, they are making a comeback among men. Called fancy names like toupees, hairpieces and lace frontals, they come in different textures and are mostly used to conceal balding in the front and middle of the head, as against the whole head. Male wigs are a temporary, non-invasive way for men to get some hair on their heads with as less stress as possible. If you hate your receding hairline and are not ready to go bald yet, then you might probably need a wig.
Bronzing gels
There is nothing more attractive than glowing skin, and when it is a face that glows, it is even more appealing.
For men who are sceptical about using any form of makeup, a bronzing gel is exactly what you need to complete your dapper look for an evening out with friends or a red carpet appearance. A drop of bronzing gel mixed with moisturizer will leave your face looking sun-kissed the entire day.
Exfoliating scrub
Gentlemen, your skin accumulates dead cells too. A simple bath will not get them off which is why your body’s largest organ might appear to be rougher and more wrinkled than the female skin.
While you can go to the spa or a beauty parlour to slough off dead skin, a home scrub works just fine. Exfoliating your skin at least once a week should help it look younger and smoother in no time.
Beard definer
Beard oils and balms are good, but a beard definer is what transforms facial hair from good to great.
Beard definers do not just add more drama and sleekness to your beard, they also temporarily colour away any treacherous grey lurking in your facial hair.
Sunscreen
Of course, there is nothing unusual about sunscreens. This is just a reminder to put it on before stepping out of the house. Your skin deserves love, care and attention too.
